The chimney is one of the most taken-for-granted features of a structure. The fact that chimneys will do their job effectively, even when neglected, contributes to this assumption that ‘it’s probably fine’. Chimneys are far from the quiet, passive black holes that are ‘just there’ that most property managers assume them to be. Regular chimney maintenance is paramount to prevent trouble, deterioration & future hazardous, high-cost chimney corrections.
The worry is that a lot of masonry chimneys were not designed to handle the venting requirements of modern high-efficiency heating appliances burning natural gas and oil.
Dozens of masonry chimney products (except for true stone) suffer accelerated deterioration as a result of prolonged contact with water.
While most stone is not affected by water penetration, large amounts of mortar are required to bond the stone effectively.
Chimney caps have long been recognized as an important chimney safety and deterioration-prevention part.
Installing chimney caps & dampers could protect your chimney & maintain a safe chimney damper.
Our experts only send fully-trained chimney cleaning fully-trained techs to your structure that are able to live up to the guidelines of the CSIA (Chimney Safety Institute of America) & the NCSG (National Chimney Sweeps Guild), the two regulatory organizations for the chimney industry in the United States.

One of the least expensive parts of the chimney venting system is the one that could prevent some of the most steep issues. If you don’t have a chimney cap on your chimney, stop reading and call us for an estimate now! Every chimney technician knows that a safe chimney cap is a must.
Chimney caps come in all different varieties, shapes, sizes and components.
Chimney caps also come with spark screens to prevent stray airborne particles that are still burning from exiting onto your roof.
Chimney dampers will help prevent water penetrations, heat loss and keep you warm & saving you money.
When closed, the damper serves as a chimney cap & with a slight pull of the chain it releases the spring-loaded top into the open position when you’re ready to enjoy a nice fire.
Even just falling leaves might build up without the ideal chimney cap in place.
Rain is moisture & moisture is an enemy of a healthy fireplace and flue. Chimney liner tiles & mortar may crumble and crack, leading to critical issues. The chimney cap cover deflects rain & the side mesh prevents pests & leaves from entering. Still, annual chimney cleaning & maintenance are always recommended.
Our chimney repair & installation technicians are knowledgeable about a wide variety of chimney caps, guards & dampers.
Water causes more damage than any other element. It soaks into porous bricks & wears away the mortar. It’s a common issue: raccoons, squirrels, birds & bats try to make their house in your chimney.
Chimneys can block correct ventilation & even allow pests to enter your house, potentially spreading disease and causing havoc. Our strong mesh and lids will keep even the most determined animals out!
Your fireplace may send sparks onto the roof or nearby flammable materials. Stray sparks may be stopped by the mesh cover that is a component of all our chimney caps.
The method recommended for your chimney will depend on the type of deposits. A flue lining in a masonry chimney is defined as “a clay, ceramic, or metal liner.” Thermocrete has UL Listing and is approved for gas & oil.
A composite chimney lining system is inflated into the flue, then hardened with steam pressure, forming a tough liner. A stainless steel chimney liner is air- and water-tight.
This alloy resists acids from gas appliances and extreme temperature cycles.
Chimney liners serve three main functions. NBS tests showed that unlined chimneys let heat move so quickly that adjacent woodwork caught fire within 3½ hours.
If flue gases penetrate brick and mortar, the chimney’s lifespan is drastically reduced. As mortar joints wear away, heat transfers more quickly to combustibles and gases like carbon monoxide may leak into the house.
Modern stoves and furnaces need a properly-sized flue to operate efficiently. Our primary role is to remove flue deposits and evaluate the overall chimney system.
Our goal is to provide recommendations that could improve the safety & efficiency of your appliance and venting system.
Chimneys should be cleaned when soot & creosote accumulations approach or exceed 1/4 inch. Glaze build-up more than 1/8 inch can be removed. We employ multiple cleaning systems to remove chimney deposits. Frequent (at least annual) chimney estimates are the only way to know when the chimney is in need of repairs.
Several of the usual chimney cleaning methods we provide include:
Standard Sweep. This is the standard cleaning method & uses brushes to clean the flue. A powerful, well-filtered vacuum prevents soot & creosote from entering the home. This cleaning is effective for soot and light creosote deposits but has little effect on glaze build-up.
Mechanical Sweeping. Mechanical cleaning uses wire brushes, plastic cables, or special chains rotated at high speed by an electric motor. It is often employed to remove hard creosote or glaze deposits. In rare cases where it’s impossible to sweep the flue by standard or mechanical methods, chemicals may be used to loosen & dissolve heavy deposits.
A thorough chimney sweep may remove soot, creosote and blockages from the flue liner, smoke chamber & shelf, firebox and damper. Heat, moisture, creosote and gases may be removed, repaired, or relined with a UL-listed liner system or other approved material that might resist corrosion, softening, or cracking from flue gases at temperatures correct for the class of the chimney service.
Chemical Cleaning: This needs two visits — sometimes three if necessary. Our chimney technicians may usually complete the job in a couple of hours & ensure your house stays clean and undisturbed. Our pros pride ourselves on “no mess,” top-notch service with minimal interruption to a homeowner.
