The chimney is one of the most taken-for-granted structures of a residence. The chimney tends to not receive the redress or the concern usually given other worrisome household systems. A chimney deteriorated by constant exposure to the weather will be a potential safety hazard. Regular chimney maintenance is crucial to prevent damage, deterioration and future hazardous, high-cost chimney restorations.
Unprofessionally lined chimneys often cause a number of hefty structural & cosmetic flaws for the occupant and also create potentially significant safety hazards.
Quite a bit of masonry chimney elements (except for true stone) suffer accelerated deterioration as a result of prolonged contact with water.
Water in the chimney also starts rust in steel and cast iron, weakening or destroying the metal parts.
Chimney caps, also called rain covers, are probably the most inexpensive preventive measure that a client will employ to prevent water penetration & deterioration to the chimney.
Installing chimney caps & dampers often protect your chimney and maintain a safe chimney damper.
Our experts may advise you in your own subjective situation what is best for you.

One of the least expensive parts of the chimney venting system is the one that can prevent some of the most high-priced setbacks. If you don’t have a chimney cap on your chimney, stop reading and call us for an estimate now! Every chimney mason knows that a safe chimney cap is a must.
The job of the chimney cap is to stop rain from entering the flue & to stop pests from building nests in your chimney or using the chimney for a doorway into your building.
Chimney caps also come with spark wire to prevent stray airborne particles that are still burning from exiting onto your roof.
With precision engineering this damper is easy to open & close, sealing tight when not in use.
It’s the perfect upgrade for fireplace chimneys in older houses that almost never have a damper.
Even just falling leaves sometimes build up without a proper chimney cap in place.
Rain is moisture and moisture is an enemy of a healthy fireplace and flue. Chimney liner tiles & mortar will crumble & crack, leading to serious issues. The chimney cap cover deflects rain and the side mesh prevents pests & leaves from entering. A properly fitted chimney cap or guard will slow wear-and-tear on your chimney & lining, saving you from costly repairs.
Our chimney repair and installation technicians are knowledgeable about a wide variety of chimney caps, guards & dampers.
Water causes more leaks than any other element. It soaks into porous bricks & erodes the mortar. A chimney cap that covers all flues can protect you from expensive repairs.
Chimneys can block proper ventilation & even allow pests to enter your home, potentially spreading disease and causing havoc. Our strong mesh and lids can keep even the most determined animals out!
Your fireplace may send sparks onto the roof or nearby flammable materials. Stray sparks may be stopped by the mesh cover that is a part of all our chimney caps.
The method recommended for your chimney will depend on the type of deposits. The Thermocrete process coats the inside of the chimney with a durable ceramic sealant. Thermocrete has UL Listing and is approved for gas & oil.
It conforms to any chimney size & shape, becoming a corrosion-proof, flame- and heat-resistant, airtight system with steel-like rigidity. A stainless steel chimney liner is air- and water-tight.
This alloy resists acids from gas appliances & extreme temperature cycles.
The liner protects your house from heat transfer to nearby combustibles. Liners also protect masonry from the corrosive byproducts of combustion.
Flue gases are acidic and eat away at mortar joints from the inside. Liners also provide a properly-sized flue for efficient appliance performance.
Modern stoves and furnaces need a properly-sized flue to operate efficiently. An improperly-sized liner may cause creosote buildup in wood stoves & increase carbon monoxide risks.
The required cleaning frequency will depend on use, type of installation, fuel, and burning habits of the customer.
Chimneys should be cleaned when soot and creosote accumulations approach or exceed 1/4 inch. Glaze build-up more than 1/8 inch should be removed. Our pros employ several cleaning systems to remove chimney deposits. Frequent (at least annual) chimney consultations are the only way to know when the chimney needs maintenance.
Several of the common chimney cleaning methods we provide include:
Standard Sweep. This is the standard cleaning method and uses brushes to clean the flue. A powerful, well-filtered vacuum prevents soot and creosote from entering the residence. This cleaning is effective for soot & light creosote deposits but has little effect on glaze build-up.
Mechanical Sweeping. Mechanical cleaning uses wire brushes, plastic cables, or special chains rotated at high speed by an electric motor. It is often employed to remove hard creosote or glaze deposits. In rare cases where it is impossible to clean the flue by standard or mechanical methods, chemicals may be used to loosen & dissolve heavy deposits.
A thorough chimney sweep will remove soot, creosote & blockages from the flue liner, smoke chamber and shelf, firebox and damper. Heat, moisture, creosote & gases will be removed, repaired, or relined with a UL-listed liner system or other approved product that may resist corrosion, softening, or cracking from flue gases at temperatures correct for the class of the chimney job.
Chemical Cleaning: This calls for two trips — sometimes 3 if necessary. Our chimney technicians will usually complete the job in a couple of hours and ensure your home stays clean and undisturbed. Our pros pride ourselves on “no mess,” top-notch job with minimal interruption to the owner.
