The chimney is one of the most under appreciated features of a dwelling. The fact that chimneys will do their job perfectly, even when forgetten about, contributes to this aura that ‘it’s probably fine’. Chimneys are far from the quiet, passive black holes that are ‘just there’ that most occupants assume them to be. Adverse or deteriorated flue liners of masonry chimneys could become soft, cracked or otherwise damaged – such that it/they no longer have the ability to control & contain the life-threatening by-products of combustion.
The complication is that countless of masonry chimneys were not designed to handle the venting requirements of modern high-efficiency heating appliances burning natural gas & oil.
Expressway repairs problems to all parts of your fireplace or chimney. Whether an owner seeks a chimney repointing, chimney repairs to missing or loose bricks, repair of a leaking chimney crown, broken flue liner or other chimney hazard.
Water in the chimney also initiates rust in steel & cast iron, weakening or destroying the metal parts.
Chimney caps have long been recognized as an important chimney safety & problem-prevention feature.
Installing chimney caps & dampers may protect your chimney and maintain a safe chimney damper.
Caps & dampers keep out the weather, all animals & most debris – all while keeping sparks from leaving the chimney which sometimes ignite nearby combustibles like your roofing shingles, siding or nearby trees.

One of the least expensive parts of the chimney venting system is the one that may prevent some of the most hefty problems. If you don’t have a chimney cap on your chimney, stop reading right now and call our trusted team for an estimate now! Every chimney specialist knows that a safe chimney cap is a must.
Many chimney caps today are built from aluminum, galvanized steel or decorative metals.
In especially windy areas chimneys also might prevent downdrafts by blocking crosswinds from entering the chimney.
With precision engineering this damper is easy to open and close, sealing tight when not in use.
It’s the perfect upgrade for fireplace chimneys in older houses that almost never have a damper.
Sometimes it’s hard to realize how destructive animals and birds might be over the summer crafting a wonderfully cozy nest right inside your chimney.
Metal fireboxes, liners and dampers all will suffer rust & deterioration. Chimney liner tiles and mortar will crumble & crack, leading to critical problems. The chimney cap cover deflects rain & the side mesh prevents pests & leaves from entering. Still, proper chimney cleaning and maintenance are always recommended.
Our chimney repair and installation experts are knowledgeable about many types of chimney caps, guards & dampers.
Water starts more leaks than any other element. It soaks into porous bricks and wears away the mortar. A chimney cap that covers all flues can protect you from expensive repairs.
Chimneys may block correct ventilation & even allow pests to enter your home, potentially spreading disease & causing havoc. Our strong mesh & lids will keep even the most determined animals out!
Your fireplace may send sparks onto the roof or nearby flammable materials. Stray sparks may be stopped by the mesh cover that is a part of all our chimney caps.
The method recommended for your chimney will depend on the type of deposits. A flue lining in a masonry chimney is defined as “a clay, ceramic, or metal liner.” A lining cleaning is cost-effective & ideal for fireplaces & chimneys serving gas, oil, wood, or coal appliances.
A composite chimney lining system is inflated into the flue, then hardened with steam pressure, forming a tough liner. A stainless steel chimney liner is air- and water-tight.
Stainless steel liners are UL tested under extreme conditions, including simulated chimney fires over 2100°F, so you’ll sleep soundly knowing your home is safer.
The liner protects your house from heat transfer to nearby combustibles. NBS tests showed that unlined chimneys let heat move so quickly that adjacent woodwork caught fire within 3½ hours.
Flue gases are acidic and eat away at mortar joints from the inside. As mortar joints erode, heat transfers more quickly to combustibles & gases like carbon monoxide can leak into the home.
Modern stoves and furnaces need a properly-sized flue to operate efficiently. An improperly-sized liner may cause creosote buildup in wood stoves and increase carbon monoxide risks.
The required cleaning frequency may depend on use, type of installation, fuel, and burning habits of the property owner.
Chimneys should be cleaned when soot and creosote accumulations approach or exceed 1/4 inch. Glaze build-up in excess of 1/8 inch may be removed. We employ various cleaning techniques to remove chimney deposits. Frequent (at least annual) chimney estimates are the only way to know when the chimney is in need of maintenance.
Several of the typical chimney cleaning techniques we provide include:
Standard Sweep. This is the standard cleaning method and uses brushes to clean the flue. A powerful, well-filtered vacuum prevents soot and creosote from entering the home. This cleaning is effective for soot & light creosote deposits but has little effect on glaze build-up.
Mechanical Sweeping. Mechanical cleaning uses wire brushes, plastic cables, or special chains rotated at high speed by an electric motor. It is often employed to remove hard creosote or glaze deposits. In rare cases where it’s impossible to clean the flue by standard or mechanical methods, chemicals may be used to loosen & dissolve heavy deposits.
A thorough chimney sweep will remove soot, creosote & blockages from the flue liner, smoke chamber and shelf, firebox & damper. Heat, moisture, creosote and gases may be removed, repaired, or relined with a UL-listed liner system or other approved product that might resist corrosion, softening, or cracking from flue gases at temperatures necessary for the class of the chimney service.
Chemical Cleaning: This requires two visits — sometimes 3 if necessary. Our chimney masons may usually complete the job in a couple of hours and ensure your property stays clean and undisturbed. Our technicians pride ourselves on “no mess,” top-notch service with minimal interruption to a homeowner.
