The chimney is one of the most underestimated components of a residence. Your chimney tends to not receive the redress or the concern usually directed other troublesome household systems. Chimneys are far from the quiet, passive black holes that are ‘just there’ that most people assume them to be. Regular chimney maintenance is essential to prevent leaks, deterioration and future troublesome, high-cost chimney solutions.
The complication is that hundreds of masonry chimneys were not designed to handle the venting requirements of modern high-efficiency heating appliances burning natural gas & oil.
Expressway repairs hazards to all parts of your fireplace or chimney. Whether a resident needs a chimney repointing, chimney repairs to missing or loose bricks, repair of a leaking chimney crown, broken flue liner or other chimney problem.
A stone chimney acts and can be like a brick chimney & it often will also be protected from the effects of water penetration.
Chimney caps, also called rain covers, are probably the most inexpensive preventive measure that a customer easily employ to prevent water penetration & deterioration to the chimney.
Defective mortar joints or the use of shoddy mortar or brick could greatly increase the tendency to absorb & carry water to the interior of the masonry chimney.
Our technicians only send fully-trained chimney cleaning highly-skilled pros to your structure that are able to live up to the guidelines of the CSIA (Chimney Safety Institute of America) and the NCSG (National Chimney Sweeps Guild), the two regulatory organizations for the chimney industry in the United States.

One of the least expensive parts of the chimney venting system is the one that might prevent some of the most costly setbacks. If you don’t have a chimney cap on your chimney, stop reading right now and call Sea Cliff’s local roofing experts for an estimate now! Every chimney pro knows that a safe chimney cap is a must.
Chimney caps come in all different varieties, shapes, sizes & components.
Chimney caps also come with spark shields to prevent stray airborne particles that are still burning from exiting onto your roof.
Chimney dampers can help prevent water penetrations, heat loss and keep you warm and saving you money.
This damper attaches to the top of the chimney’s flue tile liner, providing a tight, gasketed fit that seals in heat and seals out weather, insects, birds & animals.
Even just falling leaves sometimes build up without the latest chimney cap in place.
Rain is moisture and moisture is an enemy of a healthy fireplace and flue. Chimney liner tiles and mortar will crumble and crack, leading to critical issues. The chimney cap cover deflects rain and the side mesh prevents pests and leaves from entering. Still, regular chimney cleaning & maintenance are always recommended.
Our chimney repair and installation technicians are knowledgeable about all kinds of chimney caps, guards & dampers.
Water starts more leaks than any other element. It soaks into porous bricks & weathers the mortar. A chimney cap that covers all flues can protect you from expensive repairs.
Chimneys can block correct ventilation and even allow pests to enter your house, potentially spreading disease & causing havoc. Our strong mesh and lids will keep even the most determined animals out!
Your fireplace may send sparks onto the roof or nearby flammable materials. Stray sparks can be stopped by the mesh cover that is a component of all our chimney caps.
The method recommended for your chimney will depend on the type of deposits. The Thermocrete process coats the inside of the chimney with a durable ceramic sealant. A lining cleaning is cost-effective & ideal for fireplaces & chimneys serving gas, oil, wood, or coal appliances.
A composite chimney lining system is inflated into the flue, then hardened with steam pressure, forming a tough liner. A stainless steel chimney liner is air- and water-tight.
This alloy resists acids from gas appliances & extreme temperature cycles.
The liner protects your house from heat transfer to nearby combustibles. Liners also protect masonry from the corrosive byproducts of combustion.
Flue gases are acidic and eat away at mortar joints from the inside. As mortar joints erode, heat transfers more quickly to combustibles and gases like carbon monoxide can leak into the home.
Modern stoves and furnaces need a properly-sized flue to operate efficiently. Our primary role is to remove flue deposits & evaluate the overall chimney system.
Our objective is to provide recommendations that could improve the safety and efficiency of your appliance and venting system.
Chimneys should be cleaned when soot & creosote accumulations approach or exceed 1/4 inch. Glaze build-up over 1/8 inch should be removed. We employ various cleaning techniques to remove chimney deposits. Frequent (at least annual) chimney consultations are the only way to know when the chimney requires repairs.
Several of the usual chimney cleaning methods we provide include:
Standard Sweep. This is the standard cleaning method and uses brushes to clean the flue. A powerful, well-filtered vacuum prevents soot and creosote from entering the home. This cleaning is effective for soot and light creosote deposits but has little effect on glaze build-up.
Mechanical Sweeping. Mechanical cleaning uses wire brushes, plastic cables, or special chains rotated at high speed by an electric motor. It is often employed to remove hard creosote or glaze deposits. In rare cases where it is impossible to sweep the flue by standard or mechanical methods, chemicals may be used to loosen & dissolve heavy deposits.
A thorough chimney sweep will remove soot, creosote & blockages from the flue liner, smoke chamber & shelf, firebox and damper. Heat, moisture, creosote and gases may be removed, repaired, or relined with a UL-listed liner system or other approved product that could resist corrosion, softening, or cracking from flue gases at temperatures correct for the class of the chimney job.
Chemical Cleaning: This requires two trips — sometimes three if necessary. Our chimney technicians can usually complete the job in a couple of hours & ensure your residence stays clean and undisturbed. Our experts pride ourselves on “no mess,” top-notch service with minimal interruption to you.
