Great Chimney Cleaning Contractors Near Suffolk County

The chimney is one of the most useful assets of a home. The fact that chimneys may do their job fittingly, even when forgetten about, contributes to this perception that ‘it’s probably fine’. Chimneys are far from the quiet, passive black holes that are ‘just there’ that most clients assume them to be. Destructive or deteriorated flue liners of masonry chimneys can become soft, cracked or otherwise leaky – such that it/they no longer have the ability to control and contain the serious by-products of combustion.

The challenge is that many of masonry chimneys were not designed to handle the venting requirements of modern high-efficiency heating appliances burning natural gas and oil.

Expressway repairs damage to all parts of your fireplace or chimney. Whether a homeowner seeks a chimney repointing, chimney repairs to missing or loose bricks, repair of a leaking chimney crown, broken flue liner or other chimney threat.

While most stone is not affected by water penetration, large amounts of mortar are required to bond the stone rightly.

A plethora of masonry components are porous and will absorb large amounts of water.

Defective mortar joints or the use of unsound mortar or brick can greatly increase the tendency to absorb and steer water to the interior of the masonry chimney.

Our masons only send fully-trained chimney cleaning experts to your home that can live up to the guidelines of the CSIA (Chimney Safety Institute of America) and the NCSG (National Chimney Sweeps Guild), the two regulatory organizations for the chimney industry in the United States.

One of the least expensive parts of the chimney venting system is the one that may prevent some of the most steep harm. If you don’t have a chimney cap on your chimney, stop reading & call our trusted team for an estimate now! Every chimney mason knows that a safe chimney cap is a must.

Chimney caps come in all different varieties, shapes, sizes & components.

Some caps might actually help facilitate the updraft function of the chimney as well by virtue of their special design.

Chimney dampers often help prevent water penetrations, heat loss and keep you warm and saving you money.

It’s the perfect upgrade for fireplace chimneys in older houses that rarely have a damper.

Sometimes it’s hard to think how persistent animals and birds could be over the summer crafting a wonderfully cozy nest right inside your chimney.

Rain is moisture and moisture is an enemy of a healthy fireplace and flue. Chimney liner tiles and mortar could crumble & crack, leading to critical problems. The chimney cap cover deflects rain and the side mesh prevents pests and leaves from entering. Still, annual chimney cleaning & maintenance are always recommended.

Our chimney repair & installation experts are knowledgeable about a wide variety of chimney caps, guards & dampers.

Water starts more leaks than any other element. It soaks into porous bricks & erodes the mortar. It’s a common problem: raccoons, squirrels, birds and bats try to make their home in your chimney.

Chimneys may block proper ventilation and even allow pests to enter your home, potentially spreading disease and causing havoc. Our strong mesh & lids will keep even the most determined animals out!

Your fireplace can send sparks onto the roof or nearby flammable materials. Stray sparks can be stopped by the mesh cover that is a component of all our chimney caps.

The method recommended for your chimney may depend on the type of deposits. The Thermocrete process coats the inside of the chimney with a durable ceramic sealant. Thermocrete has UL Listing & is approved for gas and oil.

A composite chimney lining system is inflated into the flue, then hardened with steam pressure, forming a tough liner. A stainless steel chimney liner is air- and water-tight.

Stainless steel liners are UL tested under extreme conditions, including simulated chimney fires over 2100°F, so you’ll sleep soundly knowing your house is safer.

Chimney liners serve three main functions. NBS tests showed that unlined chimneys let heat move so quickly that adjacent woodwork caught fire within 3½ hours.

Flue gases are acidic and eat away at mortar joints from the inside. As mortar joints wear away, heat transfers more quickly to combustibles & gases like carbon monoxide may leak into the house.

The chimney not only vents combustion products but also supplies draft for combustion air. An incorrectly-sized liner may cause creosote buildup in wood stoves and increase carbon monoxide risks.

The required cleaning frequency can depend on use, type of installation, fuel, and burning habits of the customer.

Chimneys should be cleaned when soot and creosote accumulations approach or exceed 1/4 inch. Glaze build-up more than 1/8 inch can be removed. We employ multiple cleaning systems to remove chimney deposits. Frequent (at least annual) chimney consultations are the only way to know when the chimney requires repairs.

Several of the typical chimney cleaning methods we provide include:

Standard Sweep. This is the standard cleaning method and uses brushes to clean the flue. A powerful, well-filtered vacuum prevents soot & creosote from entering the residence. This cleaning is effective for soot and light creosote deposits but has little effect on glaze build-up.

Mechanical Sweeping. Mechanical cleaning uses wire brushes, plastic cables, or special chains rotated at high speed by an electric motor. It is often employed to remove hard creosote or glaze deposits. In rare cases where it is impossible to sweep the flue by standard or mechanical methods, chemicals may be used to loosen & dissolve heavy deposits.

A thorough chimney sweep could remove soot, creosote & blockages from the flue liner, smoke chamber and shelf, firebox & damper. Heat, moisture, creosote and gases could be removed, repaired, or relined with a UL-listed liner system or other approved material that could resist corrosion, softening, or cracking from flue gases at temperatures proper for the class of the chimney project.

Chemical Cleaning: This needs two trips — sometimes three if necessary. Our chimney experts can usually complete the job in a couple of hours and ensure your residence stays clean and undisturbed. Our pros pride ourselves on “no mess,” top-notch job with minimal interruption to you.
