The chimney is one of the most taken-for-granted elements of a house. The chimney tends to not receive the consideration or the concern usually provided other leaking household systems. A chimney deteriorated by constant exposure to the weather will be a potential safety hazard. Harmful or deteriorated flue liners of masonry chimneys can become soft, cracked or otherwise deteriorated – such that it/they no longer have the ability to control & contain the scary by-products of combustion.
Carelessly lined chimneys can cause a number of upscale structural and cosmetic problems for the occupant and also create potentially pertinent safety hazards.
Expressway repairs failures to all parts of your fireplace or chimney. Whether a client requires a chimney repointing, chimney repairs to missing or loose bricks, repair of a leaking chimney crown, broken flue liner or other chimney problem.
Water in the chimney also triggers rust in steel and cast iron, weakening or destroying the metal parts.
Lots of masonry components are porous and may absorb large amounts of water.
Installing chimney caps & dampers might protect your chimney and maintain a safe chimney damper.
Caps and dampers keep out the weather, all animals & most debris – all while keeping sparks from leaving the chimney which sometimes ignite nearby combustibles like your roofing shingles, siding or nearby trees.

One of the least expensive parts of the chimney venting system is the one that will prevent some of the most steep nightmares. If you don’t have a chimney cap on your chimney, stop reading and call our chimney pros for an estimate now! Every chimney pro knows that a safe chimney cap is a must.
Most chimney caps are made from copper or stainless steel
Some caps may actually help facilitate the updraft function of the chimney as well by virtue of their special design.
With precision engineering this damper is easy to open and close, sealing tight when not in use.
When closed, the damper serves as a chimney cap & with a slight pull of the chain it releases the spring-loaded top into the open position when you’re ready to enjoy a nice fire.
Even just falling leaves will build up without the correct chimney cap in place.
Rain is moisture & moisture is an enemy of a healthy fireplace and flue. Chimney liner tiles and mortar may crumble and crack, leading to critical leaks. The chimney cap cover deflects rain and the side mesh prevents pests & leaves from entering. Still, regular chimney cleaning & maintenance are always recommended.
Our technicians will come out and recommend the best option for you & provide a written estimate to install a new chimney cap, damper, or guard.
Water causes more issues than any other element. It soaks into porous bricks and erodes the mortar. A chimney cap that covers all flues will protect you from costly repairs.
Chimneys may block correct ventilation and even allow pests to enter your house, potentially spreading disease & causing havoc. Our strong mesh & lids can keep even the most determined animals out!
Your fireplace may send sparks onto the roof or nearby flammable materials. Stray sparks can be stopped by the mesh cover that is a part of all our chimney caps.
The method recommended for your chimney will depend on the type of deposits. The Thermocrete process coats the inside of the chimney with a durable ceramic sealant. A lining cleaning is cost-effective and ideal for fireplaces and chimneys serving gas, oil, wood, or coal appliances.
A composite chimney lining system is inflated into the flue, then hardened with steam pressure, forming a tough liner. A stainless steel liner locks in moisture and gases, keeping them out of your home.
Stainless steel liners are UL tested under extreme conditions, including simulated chimney fires over 2100°F, so you’ll sleep soundly knowing your house is safer.
The liner protects your house from heat transfer to nearby combustibles. NBS tests showed that unlined chimneys let heat move so quickly that adjacent woodwork caught fire within 3½ hours.
Flue gases are acidic and eat away at mortar joints from the inside. As mortar joints erode, heat transfers more quickly to combustibles & gases like carbon monoxide may leak into the home.
The chimney not only vents combustion products but also supplies draft for combustion air. Our primary role is to remove flue deposits and evaluate the overall chimney system.
The required cleaning frequency can depend on use, type of installation, fuel, and burning habits of the client.
Chimneys should be cleaned when soot & creosote accumulations approach or exceed 1/4 inch. Glaze build-up over 1/8 inch may be removed. We employ a variety of cleaning techniques to remove chimney deposits. Frequent (at least annual) chimney estimates are the only way to know when the chimney requires maintenance.
Several of the usual chimney cleaning practices we provide include:
Standard Sweep. This is the standard cleaning method and uses brushes to clean the flue. A powerful, well-filtered vacuum prevents soot & creosote from entering the house. This cleaning is effective for soot and light creosote deposits but has little effect on glaze build-up.
Mechanical Sweeping. Mechanical cleaning uses wire brushes, plastic cables, or special chains rotated at high speed by an electric motor. It is often employed to remove hard creosote or glaze deposits. In rare cases where it is impossible to sweep the flue by standard or mechanical methods, chemicals may be used to loosen & dissolve heavy deposits.
A thorough chimney sweep could remove soot, creosote & blockages from the flue liner, smoke chamber & shelf, firebox & damper. Heat, moisture, creosote & gases can be removed, repaired, or relined with a UL-listed liner system or other approved product that will resist corrosion, softening, or cracking from flue gases at temperatures appropriate for the class of the chimney project.
Chemical Cleaning: This requires two trips — sometimes three if necessary. Our chimney pros can usually complete the job in a couple of hours and ensure your house stays clean and undisturbed. Our pros pride ourselves on “no mess,” top-notch job with minimal interruption to a homeowner.
