The chimney is one of the most under appreciated features of a house. Any chimney tends to not receive the focus or the concern usually accorded other concerning household systems. Chimneys are far from the quiet, passive black holes that are ‘just there’ that most occupants assume them to be. Regular chimney maintenance is necessary to prevent leaks, deterioration & future expensive, high-cost chimney corrections.
Each year there are thousands of cases of carbon monoxide poisonings due to improperly lined chimneys.
Expressway repairs issues to all parts of your fireplace or chimney. Whether a resident needs a chimney repointing, chimney repairs to missing or loose bricks, repair of a leaking chimney crown, broken flue liner or other chimney issue.
Water in the chimney also begins rust in steel and cast iron, weakening or destroying the metal parts.
A lot of masonry elements are porous and could absorb large amounts of water.
Installing chimney caps & dampers might protect your chimney & maintain a safe chimney damper.
Caps and dampers keep out the weather, all animals & most debris – all while keeping sparks from leaving the chimney which can ignite nearby combustibles like your roofing shingles, siding or nearby trees.

One of the least expensive parts of the chimney venting system is the one that could prevent some of the most high-priced leaks. If you don’t have a chimney cap on your chimney, stop reading and call our trusted team for an estimate now! Every chimney specialist knows that a safe chimney cap is a must.
Many chimney caps today are built from aluminum, galvanized steel or decorative metals.
Some caps may actually help facilitate the updraft function of the chimney as well by virtue of their special design.
Our chimney masons will recommend the best solution for your chimney.
This damper attaches to the top of the chimney’s flue tile liner, providing a tight, gasketed fit that seals in heat & seals out weather, insects, birds & animals.
These blockages could cause fire hazards & smoke back drafting into the residence.
Rain is moisture & moisture is an enemy of a healthy fireplace and flue. Chimney liner tiles & mortar could crumble and crack, leading to critical leaks. The chimney cap cover deflects rain and the side mesh prevents pests & leaves from entering. A properly fitted chimney cap or guard will slow wear-and-tear on your chimney and lining, saving you from costly expenses.
Our chimney repair and installation pros are knowledgeable about all kinds of chimney caps, guards and dampers.
Water starts more issues than any other element. It soaks into porous bricks & wears away the mortar. A chimney cap that covers all flues can protect you from expensive repairs.
Chimneys can block proper ventilation and even allow pests to enter your home, potentially spreading disease & causing havoc. Our strong mesh and lids will keep even the most determined animals out!
Your fireplace may send sparks onto the roof or nearby flammable products. Stray sparks can be stopped by the mesh cover that is a part of all our chimney caps.
The method recommended for your chimney will depend on the type of deposits. A flue lining in a masonry chimney is defined as “a clay, ceramic, or metal liner.” A lining cleaning is cost-effective and ideal for fireplaces and chimneys serving gas, oil, wood, or coal appliances.
A composite chimney lining system is inflated into the flue, then hardened with steam pressure, forming a tough liner. A stainless steel liner locks in moisture and gases, keeping them out of your home.
Stainless steel liners are UL tested under extreme conditions, including simulated chimney fires over 2100°F, so you’ll sleep soundly knowing your home is safer.
The liner protects your house from heat transfer to nearby combustibles. Liners also protect masonry from the corrosive byproducts of combustion.
Flue gases are acidic and eat away at mortar joints from the inside. Liners also provide a properly-sized flue for efficient appliance performance.
Modern stoves and furnaces need a correctly-sized flue to operate efficiently. An improperly-sized liner can cause creosote buildup in wood stoves & increase carbon monoxide risks.
Our goal is to provide recommendations that might improve the safety and efficiency of your appliance and venting system.
Chimneys should be cleaned when soot and creosote accumulations approach or exceed 1/4 inch. Glaze build-up more than 1/8 inch may be removed. Our technicians employ several cleaning methods to remove chimney deposits. Frequent (at least annual) chimney consultations are the only way to know when the chimney requires maintenance.
Several of the common chimney cleaning practices we provide include:
Standard Sweep. This is the normal cleaning method and uses brushes to clean the flue. A powerful, well-filtered vacuum prevents soot & creosote from entering the home. This cleaning is effective for soot & light creosote deposits but has little effect on glaze build-up.
Mechanical Sweeping. Mechanical cleaning uses wire brushes, plastic cables, or special chains rotated at high speed by an electric motor. It is often employed to remove hard creosote or glaze deposits. In rare cases where it’s impossible to sweep the flue by standard or mechanical methods, chemicals may be used to loosen & dissolve heavy deposits.
A thorough chimney sweep will remove soot, creosote and blockages from the flue liner, smoke chamber & shelf, firebox & damper. Heat, moisture, creosote & gases will be removed, repaired, or relined with a UL-listed liner system or other approved material that can resist corrosion, softening, or cracking from flue gases at temperatures correct for the class of the chimney service.
Chemical Cleaning: This calls for two visits — sometimes 3 if necessary. Our chimney sweeps can usually complete the job in a couple of hours and ensure your property stays clean and undisturbed. Our experts pride ourselves on “no mess,” top-notch service with minimal interruption to the owner.
