The chimney is one of the most overlooked elements of a structure. A Home’s chimney tends to not receive the redress or the concern usually accorded other hazardous household systems. Chimneys are far from the quiet, passive black holes that are ‘just there’ that most residents assume them to be. Harmful or deteriorated flue liners of masonry chimneys may become soft, cracked or otherwise damaged – such that it/they no longer have the ability to control and contain the toxic by-products of combustion.
Each year there are thousands of cases of carbon monoxide poisonings due to shodily lined chimneys.
Expressway repairs weakening to all parts of your fireplace or chimney. Whether a resident wants a chimney repointing, chimney repairs to missing or loose bricks, repair of a leaking chimney crown, broken flue liner or other chimney complication.
While most stone is not affected by water penetration, large amounts of mortar are required to bond the stone exactly.
Many of masonry components are porous & can absorb large amounts of water.
Common brick is like a sponge, absorbing water and wicking moisture to the chimney interior.
Our technicians could advise an owner in your own individual situation what is best for you.

One of the least expensive parts of the chimney venting system is the one that can prevent some of the most immoderate harm. If you don’t have a chimney cap on your chimney, stop reading and call our chimney pros for an estimate now! Every chimney mason knows that a safe chimney cap is a must.
The job of the chimney cap is to stop rain from entering the flue and to stop pests from building nests in your chimney or using the chimney for a doorway into your property.
Chimney caps also come with spark barriers to prevent stray airborne particles that are still burning from exiting onto your roof.
Our chimney technicians are able to recommend the best solution for your chimney.
It’s the perfect upgrade for fireplace chimneys in older houses that infrequently have a damper.
Even just falling leaves will build up without the most apt chimney cap in place.
Rain is moisture & moisture is an enemy of a healthy fireplace and flue. Chimney liner tiles & mortar could crumble & crack, leading to serious leaks. The chimney cap cover deflects rain & the side mesh prevents pests & leaves from entering. A properly fitted chimney cap or guard will slow wear-and-tear on your chimney and lining, saving you from costly expenses.
Our chimney repair and installation experts are knowledgeable about many types of chimney caps, guards & dampers.
Water causes more problems than any other element. It soaks into porous bricks & weathers the mortar. A chimney cap that covers all flues will protect you from costly repairs.
Chimneys may block proper ventilation & even allow pests to enter your house, potentially spreading disease & causing havoc. Our strong mesh and lids will keep even the most determined animals out!
Your fireplace may send sparks onto the roof or nearby flammable materials. Stray sparks may be stopped by the mesh cover that is a component of all our chimney caps.
The method recommended for your chimney will depend on the type of deposits. The Thermocrete process coats the inside of the chimney with a durable ceramic sealant. Thermocrete has UL Listing & is approved for gas and oil.
A composite chimney lining system is inflated into the flue, then hardened with steam pressure, forming a tough liner. A stainless steel chimney liner is air- & water-tight.
This alloy resists acids from gas appliances & extreme temperature cycles.
Chimney liners serve three main functions. NBS tests showed that unlined chimneys let heat move so quickly that adjacent woodwork caught fire within 3½ hours.
Flue gases are acidic and eat away at mortar joints from the inside. Liners also provide a correctly-sized flue for efficient appliance performance.
Modern stoves and furnaces need a correctly-sized flue to operate efficiently. An incorrectly-sized liner can cause creosote buildup in wood stoves and increase carbon monoxide risks.
The required cleaning frequency may depend on use, type of installation, fuel, and burning habits of the homeowner.
Chimneys should be cleaned when soot & creosote accumulations approach or exceed 1/4 inch. Glaze build-up over 1/8 inch should be removed. We employ multiple cleaning techniques to remove chimney deposits. Frequent (at least annual) chimney inspections are the only way to know when the chimney needs maintenance.
Several of the usual chimney cleaning methods we provide include:
Standard Sweep. This is the standard cleaning method & uses brushes to clean the flue. A powerful, well-filtered vacuum prevents soot and creosote from entering the home. This cleaning is effective for soot and light creosote deposits but has little effect on glaze build-up.
Mechanical Sweeping. Mechanical cleaning uses wire brushes, plastic cables, or special chains rotated at high speed by an electric motor. It is often employed to remove hard creosote or glaze deposits. In rare cases where it’s impossible to sweep the flue by standard or mechanical methods, chemicals may be used to loosen & dissolve heavy deposits.
A thorough chimney sweep should remove soot, creosote & blockages from the flue liner, smoke chamber & shelf, firebox & damper. Heat, moisture, creosote and gases could be removed, repaired, or relined with a UL-listed liner system or other approved material that could resist corrosion, softening, or cracking from flue gases at temperatures proper for the class of the chimney job.
Chemical Cleaning: This needs two visits — sometimes 3 if necessary. Our chimney sweeps will usually complete the job in a couple of hours & ensure your residence stays clean and undisturbed. Our technicians pride ourselves on “no mess,” top-notch project with minimal interruption to you.
