The chimney is one of the most overlooked things of a home. The fact that chimneys could do their job well, even when disregarded, contributes to this notion that ‘it’s probably fine’. Chimneys are far from the quiet, passive black holes that are ‘just there’ that most clients assume them to be. Regular chimney maintenance is necessary to prevent leaks, deterioration and future widespread, high-cost chimney corrections.
The issue is that a lot of masonry chimneys were not designed to handle the venting requirements of modern high-efficiency heating appliances burning natural gas and oil.
Expressway repairs leaks to all parts of your fireplace or chimney. Whether a client needs a chimney repointing, chimney repairs to missing or loose bricks, repair of a leaking chimney crown, broken flue liner or other chimney problem.
A stone chimney acts & is like a brick chimney & it may also be protected from the effects of water penetration.
Hundreds of masonry components are porous & could absorb large amounts of water.
Defective mortar joints or the use of shoddy mortar or brick may greatly increase the tendency to absorb and steer water to the interior of the masonry chimney.
Our technicians only send fully-trained chimney cleaning professionals to your building that can live up to the guidelines of the CSIA (Chimney Safety Institute of America) & the NCSG (National Chimney Sweeps Guild), the two regulatory organizations for the chimney industry in the United States.

One of the least expensive parts of the chimney venting system is the one that sometimes prevent some of the most immoderate harm. If you don’t have a chimney cap on your chimney, stop reading & call us for an estimate now! Every chimney expert knows that a safe chimney cap is a must.
Most chimney caps are made from copper or stainless steel
In especially windy areas chimneys also sometimes prevent downdrafts by blocking crosswinds from entering the chimney.
With precision engineering this damper is easy to open & close, sealing tight when not in use.
This damper attaches to the top of the chimney’s flue tile liner, providing a tight, gasketed fit that seals in heat & seals out weather, insects, birds and animals.
These blockages can cause fire hazards and smoke back drafting into the building.
Rain is moisture and moisture is an enemy of a healthy fireplace and flue. Chimney liner tiles and mortar could crumble and crack, leading to critical problems. The chimney cap cover deflects rain and the side mesh prevents pests and leaves from entering. Still, proper chimney cleaning and maintenance are always recommended.
Our chimney repair & installation pros are knowledgeable about all kinds of chimney caps, guards and dampers.
Water causes more issues than any other element. It soaks into porous bricks and erodes the mortar. It’s a common problem: raccoons, squirrels, birds & bats try to make their home in your chimney.
Chimneys may block proper ventilation & even allow pests to enter your home, potentially spreading disease and causing havoc. Our strong mesh and lids will keep even the most determined animals out!
Your fireplace can send sparks onto the roof or nearby flammable materials. Stray sparks can be stopped by the mesh cover that is a component of all our chimney caps.
The method recommended for your chimney may depend on the type of deposits. The Thermocrete process coats the inside of the chimney with a durable ceramic sealant. Thermocrete has UL Listing & is approved for gas & oil.
A composite chimney lining system is inflated into the flue, then hardened with steam pressure, forming a tough liner. A stainless steel liner locks in moisture and gases, keeping them out of your home.
This alloy resists acids from gas appliances & extreme temperature cycles.
Chimney liners serve three main functions. Liners also protect masonry from the corrosive byproducts of combustion.
Flue gases are acidic and eat away at mortar joints from the inside. Liners also provide a correctly-sized flue for efficient appliance performance.
Modern stoves and furnaces need a properly-sized flue to operate efficiently. Our main role is to remove flue deposits & evaluate the overall chimney system.
The required cleaning frequency can depend on use, type of installation, fuel, & burning habits of the property owner.
Chimneys should be cleaned when soot and creosote accumulations approach or exceed 1/4 inch. Glaze build-up over 1/8 inch can be removed. Our experts employ several cleaning methods to remove chimney deposits. Frequent (at least annual) chimney estimates are the only way to know when the chimney requires maintenance.
Several of the typical chimney cleaning techniques we provide include:
Standard Sweep. This is the normal cleaning method and uses brushes to clean the flue. A powerful, well-filtered vacuum prevents soot & creosote from entering the home. This cleaning is effective for soot and light creosote deposits but has little effect on glaze build-up.
Mechanical Sweeping. Mechanical cleaning uses wire brushes, plastic cables, or special chains rotated at high speed by an electric motor. It is often employed to remove hard creosote or glaze deposits. In rare cases where it is impossible to clean the flue by standard or mechanical methods, chemicals may be used to loosen and dissolve heavy deposits.
A thorough chimney sweep may remove soot, creosote & blockages from the flue liner, smoke chamber & shelf, firebox and damper. Heat, moisture, creosote and gases can be removed, repaired, or relined with a UL-listed liner system or other approved material that may resist corrosion, softening, or cracking from flue gases at temperatures correct for the class of the chimney job.
Chemical Cleaning: This requires two trips — sometimes 3 if necessary. Our chimney pros may usually complete the job in a couple of hours & ensure your home stays clean and undisturbed. Our experts pride ourselves on “no mess,” top-notch project with minimal interruption to you.
