Highly-skilled Chimney Maintenance Contractors Near Northwest Landing

The chimney is one of the most underestimated features of a structure. The fact that chimneys may do their job perfectly, even when passed over, contributes to this aura that ‘it’s probably fine’. Chimneys are far from the quiet, passive black holes that are ‘just there’ that most property owners assume them to be. Regular chimney maintenance is essential to prevent problems, deterioration & future dangerous, high-cost chimney fixes.

The concern is that countless of masonry chimneys were not designed to handle the venting requirements of modern high-efficiency heating appliances burning natural gas & oil.

Expressway repairs leaks to all parts of your fireplace or chimney. Whether a resident wishes for a chimney repointing, chimney repairs to missing or loose bricks, repair of a leaking chimney crown, broken flue liner or other chimney issue.

Water in the chimney also causes rust in steel and cast iron, weakening or destroying the metal parts.

Chimney caps have long been recognized as an important chimney safety & complication-prevention part.

Common brick is like a sponge, absorbing water & wicking moisture to the chimney interior.

Our pros only send fully-trained chimney cleaning specialists to your structure that can live up to the guidelines of the CSIA (Chimney Safety Institute of America) and the NCSG (National Chimney Sweeps Guild), the two regulatory organizations for the chimney industry in the United States.

For a metal, brick or fabricated chimney repair consultation call or text our team at 631.388.7555.

One of the least expensive parts of the chimney venting system is the one that can prevent some of the most costly nightmares. If you don’t have a chimney cap on your chimney, stop reading right now and call us for an estimate now! Every chimney pro knows that a safe chimney cap is a must.

Most chimney caps are made from copper or stainless steel

Chimney caps also come with spark barriers to prevent stray airborne particles that are still burning from exiting onto your roof.

Our chimney craftsmen may recommend the best solution for your chimney.

When closed, the damper serves as a chimney cap & with a slight pull of the chain it releases the spring-loaded top into the open position when you’re ready to enjoy a nice fire.

These blockages might cause fire hazards & smoke back drafting into the home.

Metal fireboxes, liners and dampers all can suffer rust & deterioration. Chimney liner tiles and mortar may crumble and crack, leading to serious damage. The chimney cap cover deflects rain & the side mesh prevents pests & leaves from entering. Still, proper chimney cleaning and maintenance are always recommended.

Our chimney repair & installation pros are knowledgeable about a wide variety of chimney caps, guards and dampers.

Water causes more leaks than any other element. It soaks into porous bricks and erodes the mortar. A chimney cap that covers all flues will protect you from expensive repairs.

Chimneys may block proper ventilation and even allow pests to enter your house, potentially spreading disease and causing havoc. Our strong mesh & lids will keep even the most determined animals out!

Your fireplace may send sparks onto the roof or nearby flammable products. Stray sparks can be stopped by the mesh cover that is a part of all our chimney caps.

LI Chimney Contractors for Chimney Lining Replacements

The method recommended for your chimney may depend on the type of deposits. A flue lining in a masonry chimney is defined as “a clay, ceramic, or metal liner.” A lining cleaning is cost-effective & ideal for fireplaces & chimneys serving gas, oil, wood, or coal appliances.

It conforms to any chimney size and shape, becoming a corrosion-proof, flame- and heat-resistant, airtight system with steel-like rigidity. A stainless steel chimney liner is air- and water-tight.

Stainless steel liners are UL tested under extreme conditions, including simulated chimney fires over 2100°F, so you’ll sleep soundly knowing your house is safer.

Chimney liners serve three main functions. Liners also protect masonry from the corrosive byproducts of combustion.

Flue gases are acidic and eat away at mortar joints from the inside. As mortar joints erode, heat transfers more quickly to combustibles & gases like carbon monoxide may leak into the house.

Modern stoves and furnaces need a correctly-sized flue to operate efficiently. An improperly-sized liner may cause creosote buildup in wood stoves & increase carbon monoxide risks.

The required cleaning frequency can depend on use, type of installation, fuel, & burning habits of the client.

Chimneys should be cleaned when soot and creosote accumulations approach or exceed 1/4 inch. Glaze build-up in excess of 1/8 inch may be removed. We employ several cleaning systems to remove chimney deposits. Frequent (at least annual) chimney checks are the only way to know when the chimney requires maintenance.

Several of the usual chimney cleaning methods we provide include:

Standard Sweep. This is the normal cleaning method and uses brushes to clean the flue. A powerful, well-filtered vacuum prevents soot and creosote from entering the property. This cleaning is effective for soot & light creosote deposits but has little effect on glaze build-up.

Mechanical Sweeping. Mechanical cleaning uses wire brushes, plastic cables, or special chains rotated at high speed by an electric motor. It is often employed to remove hard creosote or glaze deposits. In rare cases where it’s impossible to sweep the flue by standard or mechanical methods, chemicals may be used to loosen and dissolve heavy deposits.

A thorough chimney sweep will remove soot, creosote and blockages from the flue liner, smoke chamber and shelf, firebox & damper. Heat, moisture, creosote and gases could be removed, repaired, or relined with a UL-listed liner system or other approved product that can resist corrosion, softening, or cracking from flue gases at temperatures correct for the class of the chimney service.

Chemical Cleaning: This requires two trips — sometimes 3 if necessary. Our chimney masons will usually complete the job in a couple of hours & ensure your property stays clean and undisturbed. Our technicians pride ourselves on “no mess,” top-notch job with minimal interruption to a homeowner.
