The chimney is one of the most useful features of a house. The fact that chimneys can do their job effectively, even when forgetten about, contributes to this idea that ‘it’s probably fine’. Chimneys are far from the quiet, passive black holes that are ‘just there’ that most clients assume them to be. Regular chimney maintenance is essential to prevent damage, deterioration & future serious, high-cost chimney corrections.
Each year there are thousands of cases of carbon monoxide poisonings due to incorrectly lined chimneys.
Expressway repairs leaks to all parts of your fireplace or chimney. Whether the owner seeks a chimney repointing, chimney repairs to missing or loose bricks, repair of a leaking chimney crown, broken flue liner or other chimney hazard.
While most stone is not affected by water penetration, large amounts of mortar are required to bond the stone rightly.
Chimney caps have long been recognized as an important chimney safety & deterioration-prevention component.
Defective mortar joints or the use of weak mortar or brick could greatly increase the tendency to absorb & transport water to the interior of the masonry chimney.
Our technicians only send fully-trained chimney cleaning fully-trained techs to your dwelling that may live up to the guidelines of the CSIA (Chimney Safety Institute of America) & the NCSG (National Chimney Sweeps Guild), the two regulatory organizations for the chimney industry in the United States.

One of the least expensive parts of the chimney venting system is the one that may prevent some of the most inordinate harm. If you don’t have a chimney cap on your chimney, stop reading & call our chimney pros for an estimate now! Every chimney technician knows that a safe chimney cap is a must.
Chimney caps come in all different varieties, shapes, sizes and metals.
In especially windy areas chimneys also will prevent downdrafts by blocking crosswinds from entering the chimney.
With precision engineering this damper is easy to open and close, sealing tight when not in use.
When closed, the damper serves as a chimney cap and with a slight pull of the chain it releases the spring-loaded top into the open position when you’re ready to enjoy a nice fire.
Even just falling leaves might build up without the right chimney cap in place.
Rain is moisture & moisture is an enemy of a healthy fireplace & flue. Chimney liner tiles and mortar can crumble and crack, leading to serious issues. The chimney cap cover deflects rain and the side mesh prevents pests and leaves from entering. A properly fitted chimney cap or guard may slow wear-and-tear on your chimney & lining, saving you from costly repairs.
Our chimney repair and installation pros are knowledgeable about a wide variety of chimney caps, guards and dampers.
Water causes more damage than any other element. It soaks into porous bricks & wears away the mortar. A chimney cap that covers all flues can protect you from expensive repairs.
Chimneys can block correct ventilation & even allow pests to enter your house, potentially spreading disease & causing havoc. Our strong mesh & lids will keep even the most determined animals out!
Your fireplace may send sparks onto the roof or nearby flammable materials. Stray sparks can be stopped by the mesh cover that is a part of all our chimney caps.
The method recommended for your chimney may depend on the type of deposits. A flue lining in a masonry chimney is defined as “a clay, ceramic, or metal liner.” Thermocrete has UL Listing and is approved for gas & oil.
It conforms to any chimney size & shape, becoming a corrosion-proof, flame- and heat-resistant, airtight system with steel-like rigidity. A stainless steel liner locks in moisture and gases, keeping them out of your home.
This alloy resists acids from gas appliances and extreme temperature cycles.
Chimney liners serve three main functions. NBS tests showed that unlined chimneys let heat move so quickly that adjacent woodwork caught fire within 3½ hours.
If flue gases penetrate brick & mortar, the chimney’s lifespan is drastically reduced. Liners also provide a correctly-sized flue for efficient appliance performance.
The chimney not only vents combustion products but also supplies draft for combustion air. Our primary role is to remove flue deposits and evaluate the overall chimney system.
The required cleaning frequency might depend on use, type of installation, fuel, & burning habits of the client.
Chimneys should be cleaned when soot and creosote accumulations approach or exceed 1/4 inch. Glaze build-up in excess of 1/8 inch should be removed. We employ multiple cleaning methods to remove chimney deposits. Frequent (at least annual) chimney inspections are the only way to know when the chimney is in need of maintenance.
Several of the usual chimney cleaning methods we provide include:
Standard Sweep. This is the normal cleaning method & uses brushes to clean the flue. A powerful, well-filtered vacuum prevents soot & creosote from entering the residence. This cleaning is effective for soot & light creosote deposits but has little effect on glaze build-up.
Mechanical Sweeping. Mechanical cleaning uses wire brushes, plastic cables, or special chains rotated at high speed by an electric motor. It is often employed to remove hard creosote or glaze deposits. In rare cases where it is impossible to clean the flue by standard or mechanical methods, chemicals may be used to loosen and dissolve heavy deposits.
A thorough chimney sweep could remove soot, creosote and blockages from the flue liner, smoke chamber and shelf, firebox & damper. Heat, moisture, creosote & gases can be removed, repaired, or relined with a UL-listed liner system or other approved product that can resist corrosion, softening, or cracking from flue gases at temperatures appropriate for the class of the chimney service.
Chemical Cleaning: This needs two trips — sometimes 3 if necessary. Our chimney technicians may usually complete the job in a couple of hours and ensure your property stays clean and undisturbed. We pride ourselves on “no mess,” top-notch job with minimal interruption to a homeowner.
