The chimney is one of the most underestimated structures of a structure. Any chimney tends to not receive the attention or the concern usually accorded other leaking household systems. Chimneys are far from the quiet, passive black holes that are ‘just there’ that most clients assume them to be. Adverse or deteriorated flue liners of masonry chimneys may become soft, cracked or otherwise broken – such that it/they no longer have the ability to control and contain the toxic by-products of combustion.
Imprecisely lined chimneys may cause a number of high-priced structural & cosmetic issues for the homeowner & also create potentially essential safety hazards.
Expressway repairs problems to all parts of your fireplace or chimney. Whether the owner needs a chimney repointing, chimney repairs to missing or loose bricks, repair of a leaking chimney crown, broken flue liner or other chimney defect.
While most stone is not affected by water penetration, large amounts of mortar are required to bond the stone effectively.
Hundreds of masonry elements are porous and may absorb large amounts of water.
Defective mortar joints or the use of incorrect mortar or brick may greatly increase the tendency to absorb and transport water to the interior of the masonry chimney.
Our masons only send fully-trained chimney cleaning certified technicians to your building that can live up to the guidelines of the CSIA (Chimney Safety Institute of America) and the NCSG (National Chimney Sweeps Guild), the two regulatory organizations for the chimney industry in the United States.

One of the least expensive parts of the chimney venting system is the one that often prevent some of the most immoderate trouble. If you don’t have a chimney cap on your chimney, stop reading right now and call us for an estimate now! Every chimney expert knows that a safe chimney cap is a must.
Chimney caps come in all different varieties, shapes, sizes & materials.
Chimney caps also come with spark mesh to prevent stray airborne particles that are still burning from exiting onto your roof.
Chimney dampers might help prevent water penetrations, heat loss and keep you warm & saving you money.
This damper attaches to the top of the chimney’s flue tile liner, providing a tight, gasketed fit that seals in heat & seals out weather, insects, birds and animals.
These blockages might cause fire hazards and smoke back drafting into the house.
Rain is moisture and moisture is an enemy of a healthy fireplace and flue. Chimney liner tiles & mortar may crumble and crack, leading to critical issues. The chimney cap cover deflects rain and the side mesh prevents pests & leaves from entering. A properly fitted chimney cap or guard may slow wear-and-tear on your chimney and lining, saving you from costly repairs.
We will come out and recommend the best option for you & provide a written estimate to install a new chimney cap, damper, or guard.
Water causes more problems than any other element. It soaks into porous bricks & erodes the mortar. It’s a common issue: raccoons, squirrels, birds and bats try to make their house in your chimney.
Chimneys can block proper ventilation & even allow pests to enter your home, potentially spreading disease and causing havoc. Our strong mesh & lids can keep even the most determined animals out!
Your fireplace can send sparks onto the roof or nearby flammable materials. Stray sparks can be stopped by the mesh cover that is a component of all our chimney caps.
The method recommended for your chimney will depend on the type of deposits. The Thermocrete process coats the inside of the chimney with a durable ceramic sealant. A lining cleaning is cost-effective & ideal for fireplaces & chimneys serving gas, oil, wood, or coal appliances.
A composite chimney lining system is inflated into the flue, then hardened with steam pressure, forming a tough liner. A stainless steel liner locks in moisture and gases, keeping them out of your home.
Stainless steel liners are UL tested under extreme conditions, including simulated chimney fires over 2100°F, so you’ll sleep soundly knowing your house is safer.
Chimney liners serve three main functions. Liners also protect masonry from the corrosive byproducts of combustion.
Flue gases are acidic and eat away at mortar joints from the inside. Liners also provide a correctly-sized flue for efficient appliance performance.
Modern stoves and furnaces need a properly-sized flue to operate efficiently. An improperly-sized liner can cause creosote buildup in wood stoves and increase carbon monoxide risks.
The required cleaning frequency may depend on use, type of installation, fuel, & burning habits of the property owner.
Chimneys should be cleaned when soot and creosote accumulations approach or exceed 1/4 inch. Glaze build-up more than 1/8 inch should be removed. Our technicians employ several cleaning methods to remove chimney deposits. Frequent (at least annual) chimney inspections are the only way to know when the chimney needs maintenance.
Several of the common chimney cleaning techniques we provide include:
Standard Sweep. This is the standard cleaning method & uses brushes to clean the flue. A powerful, well-filtered vacuum prevents soot & creosote from entering the property. This cleaning is effective for soot & light creosote deposits but has little effect on glaze build-up.
Mechanical Sweeping. Mechanical cleaning uses wire brushes, plastic cables, or special chains rotated at high speed by an electric motor. It is often employed to remove hard creosote or glaze deposits. In rare cases where it is impossible to sweep the flue by standard or mechanical methods, chemicals may be used to loosen and dissolve heavy deposits.
A thorough chimney sweep may remove soot, creosote and blockages from the flue liner, smoke chamber and shelf, firebox & damper. Heat, moisture, creosote and gases can be removed, repaired, or relined with a UL-listed liner system or other approved material that might resist corrosion, softening, or cracking from flue gases at temperatures necessary for the class of the chimney job.
Chemical Cleaning: This requires two visits — sometimes 3 if necessary. Our chimney technicians can usually complete the job in a couple of hours and ensure your home stays clean and undisturbed. We pride ourselves on “no mess,” top-notch job with minimal interruption to the owner.
